2007 The Year in Review

Here is a quick look at news of the past year.

Glanbrook’s 2007 activities were concentrated on 7 competitions during the summer.

We successfully produced 5 primary and 2 Trillium shows at 3 different host sites, Langford Church Stables, Reschburl Equestrian Centre and Center Line Equestrian. Thank you to the owners, Murray Hisey and DanaKarczewski, Regina Schmitter and family, and Heather and Andrew Warner for their generosity in providing us with wonderfully set up facilities that allowed us to present our shows in a safe and professional environment.

The Langford Church family in particular, was very busy and helpful in accommodating the extra traffic and work that goes with double Trillium/Primary competitions. The Reschburl shows had very good entries as usual and the last show at Center Line was notable for the most entries ever at that location and for their new dressage ring. Center Line also hosted a series of well attended dressage clinics in the early spring to keep everyone tuned up.

For scores documenting all this activity see our Show Results section.

Another very big Thank You is extended to the many people who volunteered their time to work at the shows. We had an excellent volunteer response this year which made everything run very efficiently.

Late summer saw information about dressage rule changes for 2008 and UNCART being much discussed in dressage forums. UNCART was first envisioned at the 2004 Equine Canada National Convention in Vancouver, BC and is an Equine Canada initiative to have all equine sport disciplines move to a 4 tier competition schedule with categories of Discovery, Bronze, Silver, and Gold replacing the present schooling, primary and Trillium levels.

The relationship between CADORA and Dressage Canada that has been undefined for so long is an issue which is presently being re-examined. A proposal was made for CADORA to run a Domestic Development Program “within the objectives and goals of DC”. This proposal was first publicized at the end of last year in the Dec 2006 INK but at the time of this writing little information has been provided or progress reported. Watch for more on this in future CADORA INK bulletins and Glanbrook newsletters.

Please feel free to contact any of the executive members if you have questions or suggestions relating to our activities. You are invited to join Glanbrook as a full or auxiliary member to receive our print newsletters.
